Design proposals from young designers or from young designers and entrepreneurs working together are being sought for a competition to design timber huts - or other novel and interesting structures - as part of the Riverside One development by BioRegional Quintain in the Middlehaven area of Middlesbrough, more details of which can be found on www.riverside-one.com

Where designers and entrepreneurs work together then a summary business plan will be required to demonstrate financial viability as well as for confirmation that the entrepreneur will run the business.

Designers may be Architects, Artists, Product Designers, Interior Designers etc - or any combination or number of these disciplines etc

Entrepreneurs may be students, existing business people, or anybody who wants to have a go at running a business

Overview of competition

For North East based Designers under 34 to produce designs for timber huts - or other novel and interesting structures - as well as to suggest uses for them.

Or …For North East based Designers and entrepreneurs under 34 to produce designs for timber huts - or other novel and interesting structures - as well as the set out their intended use of the hut with a summary business plan.

If timber construction is not proposed then alternative materials, on the basis that they are salvaged and locally relevant/ contextual, will be considered

Timber huts will be made to order and constructed throughout the development and ongoing management of Riverside One, Middlehaven.

Concepts and ideas must be consistent with BioRegional's 10 'One Planet Living' principles, more details of which can be found on www.oneplanetliving.org
