There's more good news for North Easterners thinking of sunnier times and climes with the announcement that flights will again be operating from Durham Tees Valley Airport next summer to the popular destination of Jersey.

Jersey-based C.I. Travel Group, the Channel Islands' largest tour operator, introduced its services from Durham Tees Valley this summer and it's now been confirmed that it will again be offering a weekly service every Saturday next year, starting on May 28th 2011 through to September 17th 2011.

The flights, operated by the airline Flybe, can be booked through the group's well-known brands, including Airways Holidays, Discover Jersey and Channel Islands Travel Service - and will be available for hoteliers wanting to offer direct flights from the region.

What People Are Saying

Says C.I. Travel Group's Managing Director Robert Mackenzie "We are delighted to have concluded negotiations for the continuation of our direct flight to Jersey from Durham Tees Valley in the summer of 2011. The route proved exceptionally popular this summer and, with the likelihood that exchanges rates will continue to make holidays in other European destinations so expensive, we believe that many more people will be looking to enjoy a holiday closer to home next year. With stunning beaches, great value hotels and restaurants and more sunshine hours than anywhere else in Britain, Jersey offers something for everyone.'

"Durham Tees Valley is ideally placed for people right across the North East of England. It has good road links-over two and half million people are within an hour's drive - and, of course is easily accessed by main line rail services to Darlington."

The news that the service will again by operating next summer has been welcomed by local tourist chiefs. Explains Jersey Tourism Director David de Carteret "C. I. Travel Group has opened up an excellent opportunity for the island to market itself to people in the North East, who can now put Jersey on their shopping list as a very convenient and attractive option. We look forward to working together to attract even more visitors next year."

Adds Kate Waiton, Aviation Sales Manager for Peel Airports, "We are pleased to be continuing our relationship with C. I. Travel Group who really are the top Channel Island specialists, having been operating for over 25 years and used by over 40,000 travellers every year. We know that Jersey is a destination that is always in demand from our customers and we are delighted that it will again be on offer next summer."

Holidays and flights on the Jersey service can be booked through discoverjersey.com, by telephone on 0844 415 6653, through local travel agents and with Durham Tees Valley Airport's travel provider Midlands Co-op via durhamteesvalleyairport.com or by telephoning 0844 553 3514.
