Jimmy Carr

Middlesbrough Town Hall has bagged another comedy coup, with top TV comic Jimmy Carr bringing his brand new show to Teesside on Friday June 1 next summer.

The main man on Channel 4’s 8 Out of 10 Cats, Jimmy has sold over a million DVD’s and hosted countless TV shows, but it’s live on stage that he’s built up a massive reputation as one of the best and sharpest comics of the last decade.

Tickets are already selling fast for the brand new show – Gagging Order – and it’s a welcome Teesside return for Jimmy after he described Middlesbrough as his favourite place to play when interviewed on ITV’s daytime hit Loose Women.

Peter Vincent of promoters Ten Feet Tall said: “We’re chuffed to bits to bring Jimmy back to Boro. Someone on Loose Women asked him what was his favourite place to play and he replied ‘Middlesbrough’ without missing a beat.

“He’s always gone down an absolute storm at the Town Hall, and this looks like another fantastic night ahead.”

The new show adds to an impressive line-up of big name Town Hall comedy, with Dave Gorman (this Friday, 11 November) and Micky Flanagan (Saturday 12 Nov) both coming to Boro this week - while Daniel Sloss (9 December), Omid Djalili (10 Feb), Sarah Millican (15&16 Feb), and Jon Richardson (15 April) are all heading for the Town Hall in the coming months.

Laura Hannaway from Middlesbrough Town Hall said: “Our comedy line-ups just keep getting better and better. We’ve had some amazing nights over the last couple of years - thinking of people including Alan Carr, Michael McIntyre, Frankie Boyle, John Bishop, Dara O Briain, Sarah Millican, Rob Brydon, Ross Noble, Kevin Bridges, Ed Byrne, Jason Manford and loads more – and the names just keep on coming thick and fast.”
