Kay Murray

Middlesbrough's own Kay Murray is hosting the FIFA Ballon d’Or Gala on Monday evening January 9th 2012.

The Kongresshaus in Zurich provides the setting for the star-studded event where the highlight will be the unveiling of the second FIFA Ballon d’Or winner. The winners of seven more awards will also be announced including the FIFA Women’s World Player of the Year, the FIFA World Coach of the Year for Men’s and Women’s Football along with the winner of the FIFA Puskas Award for Goal of the Year.

This year’s ceremony will be broadcast in 185 countries and British Eurosport will be covering events live from 18:00 (GMT) / 19:00 (CET). Please refer to local TV schedules in other countries. FIFA.com will also be offering live streaming from the venue and will be posting videos and photos from behind the scenes.

Ruud Gullit, former Dutch international and winner of the award in 1987 will be presenting alongside Kay for the second edition of the awards since the merger of France Football’s Ballon d’Or and the FIFA World Player of the Year awards. Votes now come from the coaches and captains of International teams and also from journalists, who used to nominate France Football's Ballon d’Or winner.

Proud to be from Middlesbrough, returning as often as she can, Kay has been working in football broadcasting for over a decade. Currently working for Real Madrid TV, Kay hosts the international version of the channel in both Spanish and English which is now in its seventh season.

Aside from her work as the Senior Presenter for Real Madrid TV, Kay also contributes to the Fox Soccer Network in America, Astro SuperSport in Malaysia and is a regular guest on TalkSport’s popular UK radio show ‘Sports Bar.’"

We congratulate her on landing this top job.
