The band of the Yorkshire Regiment are to perform in a special concert to raise money for soldiers in need .

The concert takes place at Middlesbrough Town Hall on Saturday, January 21 starting at 7.30pm.

Tickets are going fast for this free concert in support of our troops, proving very popular with 800 tickets already allocated.

Tickets to the concert are free. Attendees will have the opportunity on the night to give donations in support of the Yorkshire Regiment Benevolent Fund.

The fund helps serving and former soldiers of the regiment in need.

The concert has been kindly sponsored by First TransPennine Express which manages Middlesbrough Railway Station.

Judith Penman, station manager for Middlesbrough, said: “First TransPennine Express are delighted to be able to support this charity concert.

“Over 1.4million people use Middlesbrough station a year and many of those customers will have links to the armed forces.

“Not only will the concert acknowledge the bravery and community commitment of members of the armed forces it will also raise much needed funds for soldiers in need.”

The Yorkshire Regiment was formed from the famous Green Howards and is the ‘local’ regiment for Middlesbrough and the Teesside area.

The concert is the culmination of a year-long partnership between Middlesbrough Council and the regiment.

The partnership has raised money for the fund through a variety of events and also highlighted the pride Middlesbrough has in the regiment.
