Jim Jefferies

Middlesbrough Town Hall has bagged yet another tasty comedy scoop – with Aussie firebrand Jim Jefferies bringing his brand new show Fully Functional to the Town Hall Crypt on Friday 7 September.

It’s a welcome Teesside return for the confrontational comic after two barnstorming Boro gigs within the last four years - and follows hot on the heels of a string of top names including Frankie Boyle (29 Sept), Al Murray (16 Oct), Rhod Gilbert (30 Oct) and Stewart Francis (8 Nov) also confirming Town Hall dates within the last few weeks.

Caustic! Charming! Controversial! Call him what you will, but the stand-up phenomenon is acknowledged as the fastest rising and most hilarious cutting edge comic ever to claw his way to the top of the comedy world.

Hailed by critics and loved by his legions of fans, Jefferies’ glorious roasting of society’s most sacred cows has made him a headlining sensation throughout the globe.

His own HBO special I Swear to God paved the way to huge success in the USA, following in the footsteps of legends including Billy Connolly and Eddie Izzard as one of only a handful of comics to have been awarded their own HBO shows.

Laura Hannaway of Middlesbrough Town Hall said: “This is a really exciting time for comedy at the Town Hall – and it just seems to be getting better and better.

“Jim is simply one of the best comics in the world. He’s played here a couple of times before and just tore the roof off the place – easily two of the most memorable nights we’ve had here at the Town Hall ….. and that’s saying something!

“This brand new show promises to be even better, so we’re looking forward to another amazing night.”

Jim’s Boro date adds to a string of great upcoming Town Hall shows including Jon Richardson (15 April), Rich Hall (19 May), Jimmy Carr (1 June & 10 November), Jason Cook (20 July), Frankie Boyle (29 September) Al Murray (16 October), Kevin Bridges (17 October), Rhod Gilbert (30 October) and Stewart Francis (8 November) – with the hugely popular Big Mouth Comedy Club also bringing packed crowds to the Town Hall Crypt on the first Saturday of every month.

It all continues an impressive few years for the Town Hall; with a string of big names including Michael McIntyre, Alan Carr, John Bishop, Jason Manford, Rob Brydon, Dara O Briain, Ross Noble, Sarah Millican, Micky Flanagan, Dave Gorman & Dylan Moran alongside a host of others all having enjoyed some great gigs.
