TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence

Two Middlesbrough museums are celebrating after both being awarded a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence.

Now in its fifth year, the award celebrates excellence in hospitality and is given only to establishments consistently achieving great reviews on TripAdvisor.

Middlesbrough’s Dorman and Captain Cook Birthplace Museums join Certificate of Excellence winners located all over the world, including restaurants, accommodation and cultural attractions, all of which continually deliver a superior customer experience.

Middlesbrough Museums Senior Curator Phil Philo said: “We are exceptionally proud that both Dorman and Captain Cook Birthplace Museums have been awarded the Certificate of Excellence as a result of so many positive reviews from our visitors.

“I would like to thank everyone who has taken the time to write about their experiences - all of our staff, both seen and unseen, strive to ensure the best visitor experience possible and it’s great to know that hard work is paying off.”

Marc Charron, President of TripAdvisor for Business, said: “TripAdvisor is pleased to honour exceptional hospitality businesses that have received consistent praise and recognition by travellers on the site.

“By putting a spotlight on businesses that are focused on delivering great service to customers, TripAdvisor not only helps drive increasing hospitality standards around the world, it also gives businesses both large and small the ability to shine and stand out from the competition.”

Dorman Museum and Captain Cook Birthplace Museum join other Certificate of Excellence holders from Middlesbrough including Stewart Park and the Tees Transporter Bridge.

Both museums were also recently awarded full Accreditation status by Arts Council England, recognising their commitment to managing collections effectively for the enjoyment and benefit of users.
