Orange Pip Market

The Christmas Eve instalment of Orange Pip Market has been cancelled due to severe weather warnings.

High wind speeds, predicted to hit up to 43mph on Saturday, mean it would be unsafe to hold the popular monthly event.

Orange Pip curator Nicky Peacock said: “We are sorry to have to let everyone know we have taken this decision for safety reasons.

“With the predicted wind speeds so high we would be unable to even begin building the market and erecting the gazebos and stalls.

“The first seven months of Orange Pip Market have been absolutely fantastic with each edition being bigger and better than the last.

“We know all of our traders and performers were really looking forward to going out with a bang on Christmas Eve and we are really saddened this isn’t possible.

“Orange Pip will be back on March 25 and we hope to see the same big crowds coming along to enjoy the same top class artisan street food and quality entertainment they have come to expect.”

The first Orange Pip Market was held in May on Baker Street before spreading onto neighbouring Bedford Street also. By last month it was hosting a record breaking 34 traders.

Fans of the event are also being made aware that a range of Orange Pip branded merchandise will be available online very soon. The range has been developed due to the popularity of the brand design with market-goers and will include art prints to mugs and some special limited edition items.

Anyone interested should keep an eye on the Orange Pip Market Facebook page.
