Shoppers in Middlesbrough’s Dundas Indoor Market can win shopping vouchers worth up to £100 simply by spending just one pound in the market between 17 and 24 May, as part of an international campaign to encourage people to use their local markets.

Middlesbrough’s indoor market is giving away 10 prizes, including £100 to spend on meat at Danny’s Family Butchers, £50 to spend at Jean’s Kitchen, the café at the heart of the market, and vouchers to spend anywhere in the market.

The big prize giveaway is part of Dundas Market’s contribution to the Love Your Local Market campaign which is running across the UK and a further 16 countries.

This is the second year in which Dundas Indoor Market, part of the Dundas Shopping Centre, has taken part in Love Your Local Market.  As well as giving away prizes to shoppers, at least ten new businesses will be trying out market trading for the week to test whether they want to go full time.

The new traders selling a diverse range of goods from hair accessories and soaps to wooden ornaments and upcycled products will join the 20 full time market traders, who already offer a wide range of products including sweets, treats, hand-made artisan bread and cakes, fresh and cooked meats, and everything from handbags to gladrags, furniture to fizzbombs, make ups to vapes, candles to mirrors and mobile phone and tablet repairs.

“Markets are a vital part of our nation’s high streets and town centres offering so much more than just a shopping experience.  The Love Your Local Market campaign is designed to celebrate the uniqueness of markets, to attract more shoppers and traders to try them out, which is why we are supporting it,” says Dundas Market Manager David Harris.

With each purchase of one pound or more in the Dundas Indoor Market between 17 and 24 May, shoppers will be entered into a free prize draw.  Prize winners will be informed by the centre management after 26 May.
