Hands in.

On 30th January at Eston Sports Academy, Middlesbrough Roller Derby are hoping to start their 2018 season with a bang, facing tough international competition.

2 x 4 Roller Derby, from Buenos Aires, are visiting the UK ahead of competing in the Roller Derby World Cup which is being held this year in Manchester on 1st - 4th February. The Argentinian team are using their time in the UK to play teams they would not always have the opportunity to play.

This will truly be a David and Goliath game. 2 x 4 are currently ranked 20th in the world according to the Woman's Flat Track Roller Derby Association (WFTDA) with Middlesbrough ranked 49th. This places the Argentinian team in Division One and Middlesbrough in Division Two.

Terri Sudron, Co-Captain of Middlesbrough Roller Derby, and Team England player said “This will be a really tough game for us and all the predictions are saying that we'll loose. The team have been training really hard and we're not going to let the predictions get the better of us. We're going to go out there and score as many points as we can, we're Teessiders, we're not pushovers!”

Middlesbrough Roller Derby ended their 2017 season by winning Tier One or the British Championships and qualifying for the first time ever for the Division Two Playoffs in Pittsburgh, USA.

The home team are hoping for a good crowd to cheer them along on this unusually timed fixture. Doors open at 7pm on Tuesday 30th January with the first whistle at 7.30pm

Terri Sudron Added “Usually our game days are Saturdays, but the opportunity to play such a fantastic international team was one we didn't want to miss!”

Tickets are just £5 in advance or £7 on the door. For more information and for tickets go to facebook.com/MiddlesbroughRD and look at the events page.
