The existing competition, which is held on Monday evenings, will now be joined by a Wednesday night competition

A local community football league, which is being held at Middlesbrough, is proving so successful that the organisers have had to secure a second night to house all the interested teams.

The existing competition, which is held on Monday evenings, will now be joined by a Wednesday night competition after there were too many teams who subscribed initially, taking advantage of the reduced entry fee that is on offer to all teams in the new league.

The competitions are being run by Leisure Leagues and their New Business Executive Sam Jones, admitted everyone was looking forward to the new league kicking off and paid tribute to everyone involved in the area: “The fact we are in a position to start the new league really is down to the hard work of the referees and staff there, not to mention the commitment of all the players,” he said.

“We have been taken aback by the appetite for football that the people of Middlesbrough show and we are delighted that we are able to help them by staging this league.”

“We would very much like to thank everyone at the Sports Village for all their help in allowing us to set up this extra league, the facilities there are really first class and we are delighted that we can make use of them even more than we originally planned.
