This event has now SOLD OUT.

The Empire Theatre opened its doors on 13 March 1899 and has been providing entertainment for the people of Middlesbrough ever since. Local historian Martin Peagam will lead a tour of the theatre in which he will explore the history of this beautiful building and some of the famous names who have graced the stage over the past century. Designed by the architect Ernest Runtz the building was opened with great ceremony – no less than 17 acts performed on the opening night. And in the years since some of the greatest artistes in the history of entertainment have performed at the Empire.

There are a limited number of £2 tickets available.

Book via Middlesbrough Town Hall Box Office, 01642 81 51 81.

The Empire

Built in 1897 as a music hall, The Middlesbrough Empire has played host to a variety of performers from Charlie Chaplin to Paul Oakenfold to the Scissor Sisters! One of the country's finest independent venues/nightclubs. Party at The Empire with 3 floors dedicated to style and music.

A must for music fans and also fans of local author Richard Milward. It features in his brilliant debut Apples.
